Winter is by far my favourite time of year, but clearly isn’t for my skin! The Scottish winter is never kind to my poor face, but thankfully I’ve had years of perfecting my skincare routine to keep the dry and damaged skin at bay.
Now that I think I might of actually figured out the winter skincare, I thought it was only fair to share it with you all!
Skincare is so so important for lovely healthy and glowing skin so it is worth taking the time to look after your face, after all its the only one we get!
First of all, make-up removal is key! I used to be in such a bad habit of falling asleep with my make-up but now I take the time before bed to take it all off I have seen a huge difference in my skin. I always always double cleanse now. I know that sounds like a lot more effort, but the work pays off. First I use the beautiful Botanics Hydration Burst Micellar Cleanser to gently remove all my make-up. You just need a little splash on a cotton pad to remove make-up, even waterproof mascara and the wonderfully festive dark lipstick I wear every day!
Next up I use two products from B. Twice a week I will use this Glycolic Cleansing Peel and the rest of the week I will use their Cleansing Gel. This peel is just amazing at buffing away all that dull and dead skin from your face, leaving it feeling extra clean and fresh.
Once a week I will add in a wee extra step by using the Botanics All Bright Face Scrub when I am in the shower just to give my face that extra exfoliation and get rid of all that make up and dirt that gets right into your pores.
Then I use my new favourite product of all time!! It is the incredible Botanics 100% Organic Toning Spritz. This stuff is just beautiful. It smells divine and has had the most insane effect on skin, I don’t go a day without at least one spritz of this across my face!!
I then use the Ren Omega 3 Optimum Skin Oil on a few wee dry patches of skin I have on my face just to try and heal them and give them an extra boost of moisture. It also works amazing on any little blemishes you may have on your face. I was actually sent this by Cult Beauty after I had a bad reaction to another product I had bought from them and it totally healed my face in a few days.
Then the final stage is moisturiser! In the morning I will use the Nivea Essentials Rich Moisturising Day Cream for dry/sensitive skin. I always feel like Nivea is the hardcore stuff and they haven’t disappointed on this one. It is perfect for adding that much needed extra moisture to your skin for the winter without being really thick and heavy. Also, my make-up sits so nicely on top of this!
At night time I will use The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalene. It is just perfect to coat your face in while you sleep. I always wake up with lovely smooth and soothed skin after a good nights sleep. Can The Ordinary do no wrong?
And finally!! I can’t go anywhere with a pot of Carmex in my pocket. I bloody love my dark matte lips during the winter so always need something to soothe my lips and stop them from drying out against the harsh Scottish winter.
There we have it, my perfected winter skincare routine. Let me know if you use these products or if there are any you think I should try out!
