If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know how simple I like to keep all my beauty routines, and it is exactly the same when it comes to my hair. I just shampoo, condition and then spray in some of my favourite conditioning and detangling spray by Beaver before drying.

I am also a bit useless when it comes to keeping up with visits to the hairdressers. I am a big fan of box dyes to cover up my grey hairs, and tend to shy away from trusting someone else to do my hair for me. So, getting asked to visit a hairdressers was a bit daunting, but I gladly accepted.

Edinburgh is full of little places that take you away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre, and Stockbridge is one of those places. It is a part of the city that I want to visit more often. It is full of local and independent shops and just is such a cool place to hang out. Right at the top of Stockbridge lives HeadRock Hair, a fab little hair salon.

From the moment I walked in the front door I felt right at home. Most larger salons that I have been to have felt very stuffy and you always feel hurried, whereas HeadRock felt more relaxed and friendlier. I always dread the awkward salon chats you have while you are having your hair done, but Rebecca was so easy to chat to and I felt so comfortable.

The salon has two chairs in it so it feels very spacious for the size of the shop. The decor has a very modern feel to it, with full length mirrors in front of each chair, white walls with black and grey details. I totally loved their big cosy sofa in the waiting area, which was covered in big comfy pillows.

My visit was on the launch of their new Sunday event – Blow Out On The Rocks. The event will take place on the first Sunday of every month, where you can pop into the salon for a blow dry and a drink. It is a great little Sunday treat, and is right across from the Stockbridge market so you can show off your amazing hair afterwards!

Thinking about it, I think this was my first ever proper blow dry, and I have to say, I loved it!! Who can say no to someone else washing and drying your hair for you? I also have to mention the fact that the chairs for hair washing have a back massage setting, which was amazing after a long week at work! Rebecca took such amazing care of my hair and I left feeling relaxed and over the moon with my hair.

I think I am a total convert to getting blow drys, and I certainly will be back to visit HeadRock Hair. I can’t say enough good things about my visit there. I mean, look how luscious and hair was afterwards!!

If you live in Edinburgh, or ever find yourself here, I would 100% recommend that you visit HeadRock Hair for a blow dry or a much needed hair cut (if you are like me!)

make sure to follow HeadRock on Instagram and check out their website where you can make bookings too!

  1. Never have really gone to get my hair professionally done either, I get it cut obviously but that’s about it. I have issues trusting people with my hair, but if I found a quality salon I would stick with it for sure! Glad to hear you had a great experience!

  2. This is such a cute little salon! Your hair looks banging too! I’ve never had a proper professional blow dry to be honest! I don’t do an awful lot with my hair anymore. I think I wore myself out as a teen when I would bleach the shit out of it and wear 3 pairs of extensions every day!

  3. I adoreeee getting blow dries! They are such a treat but make such a difference to your hair to have them every now and again with a treatment. For special occasions they are my go to!

  4. Wow – your hair looks amazing; i’m so sad i don’t live anywhere near so i could get the same treatment! I don’t tend to blow dry my hair anymore, just wash my hair at night and leave it until the morning when it’s usually pretty dry. I do use an unhealthy amount of detangler though – my hair seems to just want to mat constantly.

    1. Thank you! 😘 I tend to do that if I am working the next day, I will just put it in french braids before bed! I also use so much detangler, I have the same problem all the time!

  5. I also box dye my hair frequently. I have a hard time trusting people at the salon… my main gripe is with the way they brush hair – they always try to fight through the tangles and brush from the top of the head. You’re actually supposed to brush the bottom and then work your way up, brushing through the hair you’ve already brushed through, to avoid those tangles.

Last time I got my hair professionally coloured it was a good experience but that is often rare. But I haven’t coloured my hair since, since the result was good. I just get it cut occasionally. I haven’t gotten a proper blow-dry, just the salon ones after I get a haircut – does that count? Awesome that you get a drink as well, though! The higher quality salons here in Sydney also give you a drink 🙂

    1. Oh yeah, I hate when they brush your hair that way! I am glad your last experience was good though, that makes all the difference. You should try out getting a proper blow dry, it is so nice 🙂
