As you may (or may not?) know, I wear glasses full time, and have done since I was about 18. I got my first pair of glasses when I was about 6 or 7 and it seems like my eyesight is just getting worse! It seems now though that finally glasses are cool! Where was this trend when I was younger??
I love wearing glasses, I feel that they make me complete. My favourite thing is that I can change them around to match my outfits, I have so many pairs now! Recently, I had my annual check-up and turns out my prescription is stronger than last year, so it meant time for new glasses! I totally love shopping for new glasses, standing in front of that little mirror picking out new styles and colours that I’ve never tried before. It is a chance to completely change my style without doing anything too drastic!
In the past few years I have become a huge fan of Specsavers. Their tests are really thorough and always use the most up to date technology, though I really hate the test that blows air in your eye! I am also a fan because they have a 2 for 1 offer on all their glasses over £69. which means if you go for a pair of designer specs, you can get 2 for the price of 1, whats not to love?
This time I tried to pick out styles and colours I don’t normally go for so I had something different. I love changing up the colours, but always struggle with the style as not everything suits my square face! So, I ended up with fairly similar styles, but totally different colours.
The first pair I went for was the wonderful red and black pair, Abbott. These were £69 from Specsavers own range of frames. They are just a perfect fit, super lightweight and add a great pop of colour without being too bold. The red on the underside of the frame is just perfect! It is taking a little bit of getting used to seeing red in the corners of my eyes, but overall I am loving them and everyone is noticing them (in a good way, I hope!).
My second pair is the super cool ombre Ray. These were the first pair I was drawn to and just knew I had to have them. I adore the shape of the bridge and think the add a unique touch to the shape I always go for. The blue to brown ombre is also a quirky style that seems to be a big trend in glasses right now. I am quite enjoying two toned glasses right now, so lets hope that stays on trend for a while yet! Again, they are a great fit and are really lightweight. I did have to get these adjusted a bit to keep them from sliding down my nose, but other than that I am really loving these ones.
Overall I am so happy with my new glasses and I couldn’t fault the service at Specsavers. Getting your eyes tested regularly is so important as around 50% of sight loss is avoidable. Even if you think your eye sight is perfect, your eyes can tell a lot about your general health and eye tests can pick up many common health conditions. It is recommended that you go for eye tests every two years, unless you notice any change in your eyesight within that period. You can book eye tests online here, it is really simple and will only take 20-30 minutes out of your day.
