TEA // ETEAKET

Is there anything better than a good cup of tea? I feel like there is nothing a good cuppa can’t fix!

As much as I love a classic breakfast tea, I love trying out all sorts of flavours. I have a cupboard in my kitchen full of boxes of different green teas. I am a fan of loose leaf teas but I have never attempted it at home, I tend to leave that to the professionals!

While at the Edinburgh Coffee Festival last weekend, I met the lovely ladies from Eteaket.  Eteaket is a fabulous local company that was founded in 2008 with a mission to change the British tea culture by providing ethical loose leaf tea along with innovative products and experiences. What I love about Eteaket is their ethics. They work with the Ethical Tea Partnership which is committed to improving the lives of tea workers, the environment in which tea is produced and sustainability in tea growing.

I also love that they get creative with their tea, gone are the days of old and boring! The first one I tried was their Isle of Harris Gin Tea and it was incredible! Who knew tea and gin would go so well?! Their range of special teas is just fabulous right now and includes Pumpkin Chai, Isle of Harris Gin, Tomatin Barrel Aged Whisky, Orange Sundae and Sea Buckthorn.

I got my hands on a tin of Orange Sundae and I couldn’t be happier with my choice. It is a delicious fruit tea composing of orange and vanilla with hints of spearmint, whole gooseberries and sour apple pieces. It is a perfect Sunday morning cuppa, enjoyed lazying in bed watching tv and eating pancakes. I’ve also been told its great as iced tea which I’ve yet to try. It has a beautifully sweet scent but is not too overpowering when brewed.

I was never sure about loose leaf tea at home but I might be a total convert now. It is a lot easier to prepare than I expected and the tin even has very clear instructions so you can’t really mess it up.

If you are ever in Edinburgh you totally have to visit Eteaket on Rose Street at their concept store or on Fredrick Street at their tea room.
