Happy January everyone! I just wanted to share some of my favourite things for this month…
My skin always gets really dry and sore during the winter so I have been loving these skincare products.
The Soap and glory ‘Face Soap and Clarity’ Vitamin C Facial Wash is a great everyday wash that I use each morning in the shower and I have seen such a difference using it. Once a week I will use my little exfoliating brush to get a really good clean and every other day I’ll just use my hands. The wash smells so good, of course! I just love Soap and Glory products and I’m so pleased with how well this face wash is working.
I am really simple with my skincare routine, which is fine most of the year but Scottish winters are so harsh on the skin, particularly the face, so I thought I would swap my Simple moisturiser for the Soap and Glory ‘Speed Plump’ All Day Super Moisturiser. Boy was that a good idea! This stuff is really good value for money as a little bit goes a long way. It also smells incredible! It is really hard to find such a long lasting moisturiser on the high street so I am glad I gave this one a try. I just put this and a wee bit of spot cream (if needed!) on when I’m out of the shower then put on my make up. It makes such a difference in the way my foundation sits and my skin hasn’t dried out by the end of the day!
You can never go wrong with some Vaseline Lip Therapy Original! This is a definite winter staple for my handbag!
I have a new found obsession with berry lipsticks so I had to give the New Look ‘Mulberry’ Matte Lipstick a go. I was a bit sceptical at first but it is now my go to lipstick and I wear it almost everyday! It is so soft, really pigmented and really long-lasting, I am a true convert now! I am excited to try out some of their other colours.
By the end of the day I am usually exhausted and the thought of my bed is far more appealing than trying to get my make up off. The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water makes it so much quicker and easier! One or two cotton pads with some of the cleansing water and all my make up is gone! And the best thing is it doesn’t leave your skin all red and horrible from scrubbing away at make up. I also feel so refreshed and ready for bed after using it!
I don’t know about you, but mornings are a real struggle for me. I wake up with really tired looking eyes no matter how much sleep I have had. I always feel like a good bit of eye make up makes all the difference! The Rimmel London ‘Wake Me Up’ Extreme Black Mascara was a great buy. It has cucumber extract in it so it is a perfect little wake up call for your eyes! I picked it up in Extreme Black cause I love dark eyelashes, but they have a slightly milder black version too!
The Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Baker Mini’ Rose gold Watch was actually a graduation present from my mum back in July, but I just had to include it. I wear it everyday and the rose gold and chunky strap looks so good with lots of dark, cosy jumpers throughout winter. A great, stylish accessory!
I have to wear glasses all the time, so I love finding new styles to change up my look. I was spending a fortune for frames at Specsavers so I did a bit of research and found EyeBuyDirect. They have such a huge range of frames and I couldn’t believe how cheap they were. I have a few pairs already from them, but my favourite have to be the EyeBuyDirect ‘Kilt’ Glasses. They are slightly oversized and in a beautiful deep berry colour. They arrived, within 2 weeks of ordering, in perfect condition. This pair was only £6, including the lenses, and you really couldn’t tell the difference between them and pairs I’ve spent over £100 on! If you are looking for new glasses, check them out and use this code for £10 off your order – IF4R3V2SX1 (When I ordered there was a UK version of the site that seems to have disappeared, I have emailed to ask about this so will keep you all updated!)
The one thing I love about winter is getting to wear scarves all the time. I have a huge basket full of scarves but that never stops me from buying more! This beautiful one is The Tartan Blanket Company Classic Collection Lambswool Scarf in Mackellar Tartan. This was at the top of my christmas list this year. You just can’t beat a good quality tartan scarf! The Tartan Blanket Company are a great wee company based in Edinburgh that lovingly make all their scarves and blankets here in Scotland. They are a must have!
My final pick is another christmas present, and thats the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera. I was super excited to get this and can’t wait to start using it. It came with 10 mini films so I can snap away! Keep an eye on my instagram for the pictures!
That’s all of my top picks for this month. Let me know what you have been enjoying in January, do you have any recommendations?
